Why is Venus the hottest planet of the solar system?

Venus

Though Venus is the second closest planet to the Sun after mercury, still it is hotter than Mercury. The surface of Venus has an average temperature of 462 degree Celsius, no matter where you go on the planet. Thus it is the hottest  planet in the solar system. Venus has a very thick atmosphere which mainly consists of carbon dioxide. This CO2 rich atmosphere generates a strong greenhouse effect that enormously raises the surface temperature making it the hottest planet.
